Drink Driving Solicitors – Have you Been Charged with Drug Driving?

Randox Testing Services (RTS) has been used by the police in the UK to analyse drug samples for drug drivers. The police will initially arrest the driver on suspicion of drug driving at the road side, usually take a blood sample at the police station and send this to the laboratory.  RTS will then analyse the sample and provide a statement with the results.  A positive analysis would result in the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) charging the driver with drug driving.  However, recent investigations at the RTS Manchester office reveal ‘manipulation of quality control, which supports test results’.

Police chiefs confirmed there were 484 cases handled by the drugs company RTS. Two men have been arrested from the RTS office in Manchester for perverting the course of justice.

Therefore, hundreds of cases could be reviewed. The CPS resorted to discontinuing a case yesterday against a man aged 26 from Chester who was arrested on suspicion of drug driving.  The man was initially arrested for cannabis, cocaine and another drug.  The CPS confirmed ‘there was not enough evidence to provide a realistic prospect of conviction’.
